Eligibility conditions: Promotion/ Deputation (including short term contract) 1 .Officers under the Central/State Governments/Union Territories/ Public Sector Undertakings/ Universities/ Recognised Research Institutions/ Autonomous Bodies/ Semi Governments or Statutory Organisations:- a)(i)Holding analogous posts on Regular basis OR (ii) with five years regular service in posts in the scale of Rs. 8000-13500 (Pre& not revised) (Revised) Rs. 15600-39100 + GP 5400 or equivalent and b)possessing the following educational qualifications and experience prescribed for direct recruitment:
Essential:
i)Master& rsquo sDegree in Psychology with specialization in Criminal Psychology or Social Psychology from a recognized University or equivalent.
ii)Five years& rsquo experience of Teaching and/or research.

Note 1: Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the U.P.S.C. in case of candidates otherwise well qualified.
Note 2: The qualification(s) regarding experience is/are relaxable at the discretion of the U.P.S.C. in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes.

If at any stage of selection the UPSC is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates from these communities possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available to fill up the posts reserved for them.
2.The Departmental Lecturer with five years regular service in the Grade shall also be considered alongwith deputationists and in case he is selected for appointment to the post, the same shall be deemed to have been filled by promotion. (The departmental officers in the feeder category who are in the direct line of promotion shall not be eligible for consideration for appointment on deputation.
Similarly, deputationists shall not be eligible for consideration for appointment by promotion. Period of deputation/contract including period of deputation/contract in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceeding this appointment in the same or some other organization/department of the Central Government shall ordinarily not exceed 3 years. The maximum age limit for appointment by deputation (including short term contract) shall be not exceeding 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications).

 Essential Qualification and Experience:

Good academic record with at least 55% of the marks or an equivalent grade of & lsquo B& rsquo in the 7 point scale with letter grades O, A, B, C, D, E and F at the Master& rsquo s Degree level, in Anthropology, Architecture and Planning, Economics, Education, Engineering, History, Law, Management, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work or inter-disciplinary areas of social, health, management, development, habitat, disaster and climate sciences from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
A relaxation of 5% will be provided from 55% to 50% of the marks at the Master& rsquo s level for the SC/ST category candidates, and to the Ph. D. Degree holders who have passed their Master& rsquo s Degree prior to 19th September 1991.

Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.
Candidates, who are, or have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph. D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/ Colleges/Institutions.
Preference will be given to those with Ph. D. and having few years of Post Doctoral research/teaching experience and publications.
